The grab is a mounted crane handling equipment designed for gripping, reloading and transporting bulk cargo, scrap metal, timber over short distances.
The grab for bulk cargo ( the bucket grab) works on the principle of burying and grabbing the load. For better gripping of the load, the grapple tines can be equipped with teeth.
The grab for loading and unloading long loads (pulpwood bolts, logs, pipes, etc.) is similar in structure to the bucket grab, but its tines have the shape of two claw-like grips.
The use of grabs allows fully mechanizing loading operations.

The tines of burrowing grabs when working go deeper into the material ("digging").
The tines of raking grabs during operation move in a straight line close to the horizontal plane, as a result of which the load, scattered in a thin layer, is raked up and scooped up.
According to the type of tine closing drive and kinematic features, grabs are divided into the following types:
Common to rope grabs is the absence of a rigid kinematic connection between the upper and lower beams of the grab and their suspension unit on the crane. These grabs are driven by hoisting ropes.
Depending on the number of ropes, rope grabs are divided into the following groups:
1) motor and electro-hydraulic.
The grab is connected with a crane via the power cable that supplies electricity to the electric motor of the tine drive (a geared motor or a hydraulic unit).
2) pneumatic and hydraulic.
Only executive devices are installed directly on the grab: hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders. This type of grab is connected to the crane by hydraulic or pneumatic lines.
OOO "KEP" DimAl "manufactures grabs for types of cargo in accordance with GOST 24599-87.
It is forbidden to install the grab on a crane with a larger capacity than indicated in the technical characteristics of the grab (or it is required to adjust the device of the load limiter to the characteristics of the crane specified in the technical characteristics of the grab).
