Throttle controlled electric drives

A trottle controlled electric drive is used to decrease current surges.

Previously, in order to limit starting currents of a slip-ring induction motor, starting direct current resistance was introduced into a rotor circuit (see pic.). The main disadvantage of this method is the current surges during the transition from one mechanical characteristic of the electric motor to another, which lead to rapid wear and failure of electrical and mechanical parts of the electric drive.

ООО Kirov Electromagnets Plant DimAl proposes to use a throttle controlled electric drive, consisting of a DDP crane starting throttle and a DRS thyristor speed controller.

This type of drive has the following advantages:

  1. Smooth start and braking of crane mechanisms.
  2. It completely eliminates current and torque surges, which contributes to an increase in the overhaul interval and the service life of the electric motor and mechanical assemblies.
  3. Limits the starting current, and therefore the torque, without any additional control system. The number of turns of the starting throttle (selected during adjustment and does not change during the entire operation period) determines the intensity of acceleration and deceleration, the value of the starting current and torque.
  4. Provides both step and smooth speed control in the range of 10-100% of the rated speed.
  5. Easy to maintain and adjust, space effective.
  6. The use of this electric drive reduces the costs of maintaining the mechanisms in working order, significantly reduces the hours of electrical installation work, makes it possible to exclude from work up to 50% of switching equipment and cable products, and reduces the cost of electric drives.
  7. Saves electricity.

The throttle electric drive is manufactured as standard with a capacity of up to 160 kW.

Working range of ambient temperature is from - 40 ° С to + 60 ° С.
